Annual Awards Program
Drug enforcement investigations and operations, and the prosecution of offenders, are among the most difficult and dangerous assignments for those who work within the criminal justice system. Even those law enforcement officers whose primary duty is other than drug enforcement cannot escape frequent, if not daily, exposure to crimes involving the illegal drug trade.
Show the men and women under your command that you appreciate their outstanding accomplishments and dedicated service by recommending them for receipt of one of the following INEOA awards. Please carefully review the criteria for each award and follow the instructions for completion of the recommendation:
INEOA MEDAL OF VALOR
Awarded for an extraordinary act of heroism or for continuous duty performed at a great personal risk of life, occurring during the course of a drug enforcement investigation, operation, or prosecution, which clearly places an individual above his or her peers.
SPECIAL AWARD OF HONOR
Awarded for an outstanding specific achievement or for an act of courage that does not meet the requirements for the Medal of Valor, occurring during the course of a drug enforcement investigation, operation, or prosecution.
INTERNATIONAL AWARD OF HONOR
Awarded for an outstanding specific achievement or for an act of courage that does not meet the requirements for the Medal of Valor, occurring during the course of a drug enforcement investigation, operation, or prosecution, AND which involved a collaborative and cooperative effort between agencies of two different nations.
COMMENDATION AWARD
Awarded for a specific achievement or a period of meritorious service occurring while performing duties related to drug enforcement, or drug abuse prevention and education.
